Nuclear Free Story
An oral history told by Steve Abel.

The story of how New Zealand became nuclear free is a tale of determination, tragedy, courage, people power, and violent espionage – when a small nation took a principled stand that would profoundly strain old allegiances in the midst of cold war politics.

A teenager at the height of the nuclear free movement in the 1980s, Steve Abel is a musician, environmental campaigner, and skilled public speaker, whose work has enabled him to learn and absorb much about the inspiring story of New Zealand’s nuclear free history.

The story can only be heard in Tāmaki Makarau / Auckland.
